Vesuvius and Campania wine tours: 20 compared
From 29 to 500 EUR, median 95. Eight tastings on the volcano, three inland in Irpinia, and a private label that does not cost more here.
Vesuvius and Campania wine tours look like one product and are five. Of the 20 listings, eight pour their wine on the slope of the volcano, four are tastings on the Sorrento peninsula, three are in Naples, three go inland to Irpinia and two head for the Amalfi coast. The price follows the place and the hours. The median is 95 EUR, the range runs from 29 to 500, and ten of the twelve listings under 100 EUR last two and a half hours or less. Two things people expect are missing. There is no guided tour of the Pompeii excavations with a cellar attached, and "private" does not mean expensive here. This page sorts the 20 by what you are buying. The region itself, its denominations and the distances are on the Campania page.
Prices are as listed by the provider on 30 September 2026. On private listings the price may be per person or per group, and the listing summary does not always say which, so open the booking page before you compare. The 500 EUR Amalfi day allows up to 12 travellers, and it is the one where that matters most.
One more caution on the headline numbers. Medians here describe 20 listings, not 20 markets of equal size. Two operators hold 48% of the reviews, so the rating and the review counts lean towards them, and the section on operators shows by how much.

What 20 Vesuvius and Campania wine tours actually sell
Start with where the glass is poured, because it explains more of the price than the name on the listing does. The table sorts the 20 into the five places their itineraries end up.
| Where | Listings | Price range, median (EUR) | Hours, median | What comes with the glass |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vesuvius slope | 8 | 29 to 260, median 114 | 2 to 6, median 3 | Six of the eight are private; five include lunch |
| Sorrento peninsula | 4 | 80 to 109, median 95 | 2 to 4, median 2.25 | Typical products with the wine; no lunch flagged |
| Naples | 3 | 30 to 150, median 84 | 1.5 to 2.3, median 1.7 | Bruschetta, small dishes or an old-town walk |
| Irpinia | 3 | 50 to 377, median 99 | 4 to 8.5, median 8 | All three private; transport in two; lunch in one |
| Amalfi coast | 2 | 70 to 500 | 2 and 6 | One farm tasting and one private drive |
What the price buys
The blue diamonds, the private listings, do not sit above the shared circles: the twelve private ones have a median of 92 EUR and the eight shared ones 95. What lifts a price is a driver for the whole day. The three marks above 250 EUR, at 260, 377 and 500 EUR, are private days with transport and run 5.5 to 8.5 hours.
The cluster at the bottom left is the core of the page: ten listings of two and a half hours or less, between 29 and 95 EUR.
The Vesuvius slope: one operator, and a winery sold twice
The Bosco de' Medici trio is the heart of it, with 472 of the 1,590 reviews. The 55 EUR Pompeii Vineyard Escape (362 reviews, 4.9) is a guided walk of about 15 minutes round four hectares of vines, an irrigation channel from the Bourbon era and the ruins of an 18th-century villa whose cellar holds terracotta amphorae, followed by a tasting and a three-course lunch. The 85 EUR version runs daily from 11:30 to 16:00. The 155 EUR Pool & Wine Escape is capped at four guests, lasts six hours, adds access to the estate's pool and ends with dinner. It is also the lowest-rated of the three, at 4.7, and it does not include transport.
The Sorrentino family's farm at Boscotrecase is sold twice. Run by the family, it is 55 EUR with a four-wine tasting and a traditional lunch, and it carries the lowest rating in the category, 4.4 from 27 reviews. Run by Napoli Wine Tours it is a 260 EUR private day from Naples: a 50-minute vineyard walk, a platform above the bay, a three-course farmhouse lunch and eight or nine glasses, for up to eight travellers. Same vineyard. The difference is the car, the sommelier and the pace.
At 29 EUR, the cheapest listing on the page is two hours at Azienda Fuocomuorto: wines of the Vesuvio DOP under a pergola of Caprettone, a lava-rock cave dug by hand in the 1700s and terraced vines with a view over the Gulf of Naples. Whether that 29 EUR is per person is the thing to confirm on the booking page. Two more listings round out the slope: a 143 EUR evening on horseback with wine and dinner, collected in Pompei, and a 155 EUR lunch day with a transfer from Naples.
Pompeii and a cellar in the same day
None of the 20 is an excavations tour with a cellar added. The Pompeii listings are the Bosco de' Medici winery, which its own listing places close to the archaeological site, and they meet in Pompei at Via Antonio Segni. The 85 EUR tasting runs from 11:30, which leaves the morning for the ruins on a separate ticket.
From Naples the Circumvesuviana to Pompei Scavi-Villa dei Misteri takes roughly 35 minutes, by travel-site reports. Get off there and not at Pompei Santuario. If the ruins matter more than the glass, book them elsewhere and let the tasting be the afternoon.
The long days: Irpinia and the Amalfi coast
| Listing | Price (EUR) | Hours | Transport | Food | Wines |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sella delle Spine, Taurasi | 50 | 4 | None listed; meets in Taurasi | Truffle fondue, parmigiana, cheeses and cured meats with the wines | Fiano di Avellino, Greco di Tufo and Taurasi, plus a castle visit |
| Cortecorbo winery, Irpinia | 99 | 8 | Private transport from Sorrento and the coast villages | Cooking class and a long lunch | Six wines, including Taurasi DOCG |
| Private Irpinia day from Sorrento | 377 | 8.5 | Private vehicle, sommelier as driver | Lunch not included | Two wineries, three wines at each |
| Amalfi Coast Wine Tour, private | 500 | 6 | Private minivan with hotel pickup | None flagged; stops at Ravello and Positano | Four wines in a Tramonti cellar |
The pairings inside that table are the trap. The 377 EUR day does not include lunch, which the 99 EUR day does, along with a cooking class. The 50 EUR tasting is the cheapest way into Taurasi and the only one where you bring yourself. Choose on the row, not on the price. A 70 EUR two-hour tasting at Tenuta San Francesco in Tramonti is the small alternative to the 500 EUR Amalfi drive.
Sorrento and Naples: indoor tastings with the best ratings
The seven tastings built around Naples and Sorrento rate higher than the slope, 4.93 and 4.96 weighted against 4.88, and they are short. They sit at either end of the same bay, with Vesuvius in the middle.
In Sorrento, 95 EUR buys five wines with typical products in a garden in the historic centre (126 reviews, 5.0), 80 EUR buys two hours at the Cantine De Angelis, and 95 EUR goes to a mill that sends a courtesy car and pours the first glass facing the volcano.
The e-bike food and wine tour, 109 EUR for four hours through Massa Lubrense with a farm stop, is the second most reviewed listing on the page with 298 reviews, 19% of the total. In Naples the range is wider: a 30 EUR sommelier-led tasting with bruschetta and trivia games (1.5 hours), an 84 EUR old-town walk with three wines, and a 150 EUR private evening with four or five wines and dishes. These are the tastings to book when there is no car, no time for a day trip and the main wish is to try Campanian grapes.
Who actually runs these tours
There are 17 operators, but two carry almost half the reviews. Bosco de' Medici has three listings and 472 reviews, 30%. Enjoy Bike Sorrento has one listing and 298, 19%. Together that is 48%. Napoli Wine Tours runs two, with 134 reviews between them.
Half the reviews on this page belong to two operators, so the headline 4.92 is mostly their score.
Read the rating of the listing you are about to book, not the page.
Mistakes that cost money or an afternoon
The first is booking a Pompeii winery expecting the excavations. The listings sell wine and food; the ruins need their own ticket. The second is comparing the 50 EUR and 377 EUR Irpinia days as if they were one product: one has no transport and no lunch, the other has a driver and no lunch. The third is getting off the Circumvesuviana at Pompei Santuario. The fourth is reading "private" as a mark of luxury: here it often means a table of your own at a winery for 55 or 85 EUR. The fifth is not checking the unit on the 29 EUR and 500 EUR listings, at the two ends of the range.
Questions about Vesuvius and Campania wine tours
What is the cheapest wine tasting near Naples?
The 29 EUR, two-hour tasting at Azienda Fuocomuorto on Vesuvius. After it come a 30 EUR bruschetta-and-trivia tasting in Naples (1.5 hours) and a 50 EUR half day in Taurasi. Check on the booking page whether each price is per person; the Fuocomuorto listing is flagged private.
Is lunch included?
In six of the 20: the 55 and 85 EUR Bosco de' Medici tastings, the Sorrentino 55 EUR day, the Napoli Wine Tours 260 EUR day, the Cortecorbo 99 EUR day and the 155 EUR transfer-and-lunch day. The 377 EUR Irpinia day does not include it.
What does private mean on these listings?
A group of your own rather than a shared table, and not always a chauffeured car. At the Bosco de' Medici winery the 55 EUR private tasting is held at the estate, and hotel pickup is listed as not included. On long days, private usually comes with a vehicle and a driver. Always confirm whether the price is per person or per group.
What separates the 55 and 155 EUR Pompeii winery listings?
The 55 EUR listing is two hours: a vineyard walk of about 15 minutes, a tasting and a three-course lunch. The 155 EUR one is six hours for up to four guests, with pool access among the vines, three wines plus a sparkling, and a three-course dinner. Transport is not included in either.
Can I do Irpinia in a day from Sorrento?
Yes, two ways. The private day costs 377 EUR and runs 8.5 hours with two wineries and no lunch. The Cortecorbo day costs 99 EUR, runs 8 hours and adds a cooking class and lunch with six wines. Irpinia is 40 to 65 km from Sorrento in a straight line, depending on the winery, so most of the gap between the two is the drive.
Are the tastings accessible for children or wheelchairs?
The Pompeii Vineyard Escape and Pool & Wine Escape listings both say wheelchair accessible and allow prams. The long Irpinia and Amalfi listings do not mention wheelchairs, so ask the operator before booking.
Another volcano, another price
Etna wine tours run at a median of 250 EUR, and 13 of the 20 put a crater stop before the wine.
