French Wine Tours: Five Regions Compared
211 tours across Champagne, Bordeaux, Burgundy, Provence and the Rhône, from 11 to 2,353 EUR. Not one of the five regions has a median within 45 EUR of the national 232.5.
French wine tours start at 11 EUR and top out at 2,353 EUR across the 211 listings in our catalogue, and half of them sit between 116 and 495 EUR. The middle of that range, 232.5 EUR, makes France the third most expensive of the 13 countries on this site, behind the USA and Argentina at 242 EUR each. It is also a number that describes no actual trip: not one of the five regions has a median within 45 EUR of it. Rhône Valley tours have a median of 104 EUR and Burgundy's is 425 EUR, and the gap comes less from the wine than from who is in the car and where the train stops. This page sets the five regions side by side, and the regional pages take each one apart.
One caution on reading the numbers. Prices are per person as listed, but private tours often price the whole booking, up to six or eight travellers, and the listing does not always say which. The regional pages keep shared and private apart wherever the gap is wide. Nothing here ranks the wine; it compares products you can buy. If you only have a minute, read the regional table first and the season grid last. If you are choosing between a big house and a small grower, or a village and a grand cru, the label section in the middle is the one to read.
