Half-Day Médoc Red Wine Tour from the Cité du Vin: Two Wineries, Six Wines, Margaux
Made for red wine lovers. The Médoc is one of the best-known parts of the Bordeaux wine region, and this half day covers two wineries, one of them a Grand Cru Classé in Margaux, with mostly red wines in the glass. A local guide drives a 9-seater minivan. The first 30 minutes are on the road, with the guide explaining what sets Bordeaux wines and the Médoc apart. The first estate is a Cru Bourgeois run organically. The visit shows how its wines are made and how the vineyard is managed, and ends with three wines from the estate (Haut-Médoc, Moulis-en-Médoc and Margaux). The second estate is in the village of Margaux, a Grand Cru 1855 that grows its vines organically or biodynamically. After a tour of the technical facilities, three of its wines are tasted. The morning departure meets at 9:25 am in front of the Cité du Vin (Wine Museum), leaves at 9:30 am and returns to Bordeaux around 1:30 pm. The afternoon departure meets at 2:25 pm, leaves at 2:30 pm and returns around 6:30 pm. Return times can vary by about 15 minutes.
