Half-Day Côtes du Rhône Wine Tour from Avignon: Beaumes-de-Venise to Châteauneuf-du-Pape
New vehicle from March 2026. The driver is Arnaud, a native guide of Provence who runs five different tours. This one heads into the vineyards of the southern Côtes du Rhône and ends, in its longer versions, at Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Four options are on offer. Option 1 runs from April to October, 9.30 am to 3.30 pm. It covers a minimum of nine wines across three areas, with the last tasting in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. A picnic follows the second tasting, made only of fresh produce from local farms. Option 2 runs all year, 2 pm to 6.30 pm. Same route as option 1, without the picnic. Option 3 runs all year, 9.30 am to 12.30 pm. Two estates only, one of them in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, no picnic. Option 4 runs all year, 9.30 am to 12.30 pm. Two estates only, both in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, no picnic.

Beaumes-de-Venise
About 45 minutes by car from Avignon, the first stop is in Beaumes-de-Venise or Rasteau, home to natural sweet wines (Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise, VDN Rasteau) and to good reds. Next tasting: about 15 minutes away.
Gigondas
The second estate is in Gigondas (or Cairanne, or Séguret). Gigondas is known for reds and has made white wine since 2023. Cairanne has been a red and white appellation since 2016; Séguret is Côtes du Rhône Villages in red, white and rosé. A picnic of fresh local farm produce follows the tasting, April to October only, on the 3-tasting option; the 2-tasting options have no picnic. Then about 30 minutes to Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
Chateauneuf-du-Pape
Châteauneuf-du-Pape is known worldwide for its reds, though whites make up about 8% of output each year. The tasting is at a renowned family estate and covers at least one white and two reds. Then 30 minutes by car back to Avignon.
