Half-Day Sidecar Wine Tour from Aix-en-Provence via Sainte-Victoire and Bimont Dam

This half-day tour covers Provence from the seat of a vintage sidecar. The route runs out of Aix-en-Provence toward Sainte-Victoire, with stops for views, a village and wine, and it includes tastings at one or two local wineries. You set off from Aix-en-Provence and take the road toward the Sainte-Victoire mountain. The landscape opens up as the sidecar rolls along, and the mountain stays in view for much of the ride. The first photo stop is the Bimont Dam, which looks out over Sainte-Victoire. Take a few pictures before the ride continues. Next comes Vauvenargues, a village at the foot of the mountain. Provençal architecture and a quiet atmosphere set the tone here. The Château de Vauvenargues stands in the village, and Pablo Picasso is buried with his wife in its garden. The wine comes in two parts. A winery south of Sainte-Victoire hosts the first tasting of local wines. On the way back to Aix-en-Provence, a second winery north of the city adds another tasting of regional flavours.
