Maipo Valley wine tours from Santiago: 20 compared
From a 24 EUR cellar ticket to a 525 EUR private horseback day, median 87 EUR. Seven formats, four estates and one operator with a third of the reviews.
A Cousiño Macul ticket costs 24 EUR. A private ride on horseback with a country grill costs 525. Both live on the same page of Maipo Valley wine tours, and what separates them is not the valley but the format. Across the 20 listings the median is 87 EUR and four estates, Concha y Toro, Santa Rita, Cousiño Macul and Undurraga, name 12 of the titles, so the choice on this page is mostly a choice of house and of how much of your day you want to give. Below you will find the seven formats the listings fall into, what moves the price, which tours include lunch, and why the four Civitatis listings rate lower than the rest.
Prices are per person as listed and read on 30 September 2026. Only two tours are private, so the medians here are almost entirely shared-group prices. Hours are the provider's own figure and include the drive from Santiago where the tour collects you. The valley itself, with its map, dates and cellar-door prices, is on the Maipo & Casablanca Valleys page.

Ratings collected by Civitatis, Viator and Tripadvisor
Seven formats inside one category
Sort the 20 tours by the name of the estate and the structure appears. Four listings are built around Concha y Toro and, between them, carry more reviews than any other group. Four more are multi-winery days, three are Cousiño Macul, four Santa Rita, two Undurraga, two Alyan sunset tastings, and one is a farm. The table keeps them apart because the price range inside each is narrow, and across them it is enormous.
| Format | Listings | Price (EUR) | Length | Reviews | What to know |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Concha y Toro | 4 | 78 to 121 | 3 to 5 h | 3,016 | Two from Turistik, one from Civitatis, one night experience sold by the winery itself |
| Multi-winery days | 4 | 121 to 525 | 9 to 10 h | 2,942 | Two from Stamp's Tour at 121 EUR, a 411 EUR wine bus, a 525 EUR private horseback day |
| Cousiño Macul | 3 | 24 to 81 | 1 to 4 h | 1,198 | A cellar inside Santiago; the 81 EUR listing is private and four hours long |
| Santa Rita | 4 | 47 to 186 | 1.2 to 9 h | 843 | Two short visits, a Civitatis half day, a nine-hour day with lunch |
| Organic farm | 1 | 31 | 2 h | 493 | Meet at the farm in Isla de Maipo; wine, pisco and produce |
| Undurraga | 2 | 49 to 72 | 4 h | 230 | Half days with transport; the winery's own visit costs 29,500 CLP |
| Alyan sunset | 2 | 105 to 126 | 6 to 7.5 h | 135 | Evening tastings; one includes six wines and a rustic dinner |
The chart says more than the table about where the money goes. Below two hours there are five dots between 24 and 63 EUR: these are tickets. At four hours the dots cluster between roughly 49 and 81, which is the half day with a driver, since four hours is long enough to include the drive. At five hours they rise to between 78 and 121. The two Alyan evenings sit at 105 and 126. And then nothing until the nine-hour days, at 186, 411 and 525 EUR. The ten-hour listings at 121 EUR break the pattern, which is the point: they are cheap because they are a shared minibus and a long day.
Hours alone do not set the price: a ten-hour minibus costs 121 EUR, and so does a five-hour tasting at the right name.
The Concha y Toro four
Concha y Toro is the estate most people mean when they say "a winery near Santiago", and its four listings carry 3,016 reviews. Two are from Turistik, at 94 EUR for the Premium Wine Center tour and 121 EUR for the Marqués de Casa Concha tasting, both five hours with transport and rated 4.8. A Civitatis listing for the plain winery tour is 78 EUR at the same five hours and is rated 4.2. The fourth is a three-hour Casillero del Diablo night experience with cellars, wine and dinner, sold by the winery at 99 EUR.
The winery's own booking portal offers four experiences, from a guided visit to that night tour; the page we read did not show prices, so we cannot say how the listings compare with the gate.
Same house, three prices
The clearest way to see what drives the price is to hold the estate constant. Cousiño Macul sells a 24 EUR one-hour visit in English, a 40 EUR premium visit of an hour and a half, and an 81 EUR four-hour private tasting. The middle one is titled "Spanish official" in the listing, so check the language before paying the extra. Santa Rita has a 47 EUR selection tour of 1.2 hours, a 63 EUR premium tour of an hour and a half, a 54 EUR four-hour Civitatis half day and a 186 EUR nine-hour day with lunch. Undurraga appears twice, at 49 and 72 EUR for four hours with transport, against its own price list of 29,500 CLP for a one-hour visit on the day we read it.
Use that arithmetic. If you only want to see one famous cellar, the cheaper tickets are the honest answer and transport is a taxi. If you want a day out and no logistics, the four-hour listings are priced sensibly, and the extra hours of the big days are where operators put lunch, more cellars and more margin.
The cellar inside the city
Cousiño Macul sits in Peñalolén, on the eastern edge of Santiago and against the mountains, and its founding date is given as 1856 on its own site. That makes it the easiest estate on the page to visit without a car. Its one-hour English visit is the cheapest named listing at 24 EUR, with 400 reviews, and the Spanish premium visit has 723.
The catch is that the visit is short, an hour to an hour and a half. Combine it with a city afternoon and it becomes an inexpensive introduction to Chilean wine rather than a wine day.
The four full days, compared
| Listing | Price | Length | Lunch | Named cellars | Reviews |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Maipo Valley wine tour with 4 vineyards (Stamp's Tour) | 121 EUR | 10 h | Not included | La Quirinca, Ballek, TerraMater, Undurraga | 2,723 |
| Wine and culinary trail, lunch included (Stamp's Tour) | 121 EUR | 10 h | Included | Not itemised in the listing | 69 |
| Little wine bus from Santiago (Maipo Wine Tours) | 411 EUR | 9 h | Included, with drinks | De Martino, Santa Ema, TerraMater, Los Mesa cellar, La Era | 97 |
| Horseback private wine tour and country grill (Maipo Wine Tours) | 525 EUR | 9 h | Included | Not itemised | 53 |
Two findings stand out. First, Stamp's Tour charges the same 121 EUR for a day without lunch, which has 2,723 reviews, and a day with lunch, which has 69. It is worth asking which is which before you buy, since the lunch version is the same price for what should be a better day. Second, the little wine bus at 411 EUR is the only listing that itemises its cellars, all around Isla de Maipo, and includes the drinks. Whether that is per person or for the vehicle is not stated.
A two-hour farm, with pisco
The oddest listing is also the best reviewed: 31 EUR for two hours at Campo La Quirinca, an organic family vineyard in Isla de Maipo, with 493 reviews at a flat 5.0. You meet at the farm, walk the vineyard, meet the llamas and alpacas that feed the compost cycle, then taste two wines and some piscos with cheese and fruit in an air-conditioned room. It is wheelchair accessible. It is not a Maipo wine tour in the sense of a day of wineries, and it does not include transport, but it is a real, cheap way to see a working vineyard.
Why the Civitatis listings rate lower
Four of the 20 listings are sold through Civitatis, and all four rate between 4.2 and 4.4. Weighted by review count, they average about 4.24, against about 4.85 for the 16 Viator listings. The two platforms do not collect ratings the same way, so the gap is not proof of a worse tour. It is a prompt to read the recent reviews on the Civitatis pages before buying the cheapest Concha y Toro or Undurraga option, both of which are Civitatis. For the Casablanca side of the same comparison, see Casablanca Valley & Valparaíso Wine Tours.
Questions about Maipo Valley wine tours
What is the cheapest Maipo winery visit?
24 EUR for the one-hour Cousiño Macul visit in English, then 31 EUR for the organic farm and 40 EUR for the Spanish premium visit. None of them includes transport. Undurraga's own price list, read on 30 September 2026, asks 29,500 CLP for a one-hour visit at the estate.
How long does a half day from Santiago take?
Four to five hours, including the drive of about 40 to 45 minutes each way. That is the length of the Undurraga and Concha y Toro half days, and it leaves time for one tour and one tasting, not two.
Is lunch included?
On four of the 20 listings only: the nine-hour Santa Rita day, the 411 EUR wine bus, the 121 EUR culinary trail and the private horseback day. Everywhere else lunch is paid separately, usually at a winery restaurant, and the big Stamp's Tour day lists it as not included.
Are there private Maipo tours?
Two are flagged private: an 81 EUR four-hour tasting at Cousiño Macul and the 525 EUR horseback day. The listings do not say whether those prices are per person or per vehicle, so ask before assuming.
Can I get to a Maipo winery by public transport?
Undurraga publishes directions: buses from Estación Central or Terminal San Borja to Talagante, then the estate. Cousiño Macul is inside Santiago. For the others, a taxi or a booked transfer is the practical route; we have not timed any bus.
Which estate is best for a first visit?
There is no single answer, and the reviews attach to the tour, not the cellar. Concha y Toro has the most reviews, Cousiño Macul the most accessible location, Undurraga the fixed visit times on its own site. The price and format matter more than the name.
Want the coast as well?
The Casablanca tours are nine hours, median 130 EUR, and most are built around Valparaíso.
