Santa Rita Winery Tour from Santiago with Hotel Pickup and Cellar of the 120 Patriots

Santa Rita is one of Chile's leading winemakers, with 120 years of winemaking tradition in the Maipo Valley. Wine has been made in Chile since the 16th century, and the Maipo Valley is among its most important wine regions. The day starts with a hotel pickup in Santiago and a drive south into the countryside along the Maipo River, where vines run to the horizon. At the winery, a guide leads the group through the cellars. The historic Bodega de los 120 Patriotas (the Cellar of the 120 Patriots) is the essential stop, and the guide explains the part this place played in the Chilean independence movement. The standard tasting is three varieties of mature wine, and bottles can be bought on the spot. Then the group returns to Santiago. Three versions Tour Plus adds a fourth wine: two Gran Reserva and two Premium wines, with cheese and small crackers. The Premium Tour goes deeper into the vineyard and includes Centennial Park, the gardens of the Casa Real Hotel. The park is laid out in Parisian style and has a Neo-Gothic chapel. It ends with four premium wines, a cheese board and dried fruits, in small groups of no more than 8 people.
