Champagne House Tours: Moët, Veuve Clicquot, Pommery and Ruinart
20 tours from 210 to 2,340 EUR. The house's own cellar visit costs 30 to 90 EUR at the door; the rest of the price is a driver, distance and, in seven listings, a meal.
Seventeen of the twenty listings on this page take you inside a named house for a guided cellar visit, and the other three do not. One, at 1,050 EUR, calls at three houses but says plainly that cellar tours are not included. One, at 210 EUR, names no house at all. One, at 2,340 EUR, is a custom private day. The difference between a tour that enters the cellar and one that stops at the boutique is in no title, so we opened all twenty itineraries. This page sets what they promise against what Moët, Veuve Clicquot, Pommery, Taittinger and Ruinart charge for their own visits, to show what a champagne house tour adds to the ticket. The short answer: a shared day from Reims at 250 to 330 EUR adds a grower and a meal to the house, and a private car from Paris adds mostly the drive.
Prices are per person as listed, read on 30 September 2026, and Viator does not always say whether a private price is per booking; the section on the arithmetic shows why that matters. The houses' own prices come from their visit pages, apart from Pommery and Taittinger, which come from a booking platform. Both sets change, so treat them as a guide to scale. Half the listings have ten reviews or fewer, which matters more on this page than on the others in Champagne, and the ratings section says why.

Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
What twenty Champagne house tours actually include
Seven of the twenty are shared or small-group, from 210 to 560 EUR with a median of 330. Thirteen are private, from 449 to 2,340 EUR with a median of 539. That split is the first thing to know, but the table below is more useful, because inside each price band the listings behave differently. Some give you a house's own guide. Some give you a driver and a ticket. A few hand you a map.
| Type | Listings | Price (EUR) | Watch for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shared from Reims or Épernay, house, grower and lunch | 3 | 250 to 330 | The best value: a named house, a grower and a meal. Meets at Reims station or the Épernay tourist office. |
| Shared from Reims, lunch not included | 2 | 210 to 249 | One names Pommery; the 210 EUR one names no house and changes its two estates daily. |
| Self-guided three-house day | 1 | 490 | Veuve Clicquot, Pommery and Taittinger with no driver, no guide and no pickup; lunch included. |
| Small group from Paris | 1 | 560 | Up to six people; Moët and Veuve Clicquot 'if available'; lunch extra. |
| Private from Reims or Épernay with a driver-guide | 4 | 449 to 539 | Lunch extra. Three of the four say the named house is subject to availability. |
| Private half day from Paris, driver only | 3 | 470 to 485 | A driver, not a guide: the house's own guide leads the cellar. About 2 hours each way. |
| Private day from Paris, driver only, two houses | 2 | 555 to 685 | Each house offers several experience levels; ask which one the price covers. |
| Private with a certified guide, custom or no cellars | 4 | 725 to 2,340 | 725: chauffeur-guide, two houses, lunch. 860: WSET-certified guide. 1,050: no cellar tours. 2,340: custom day with dinner. |
On the chart the dots cluster between 200 and 560 EUR at six to ten hours. The 13 diamonds start near 450 EUR and run to 2,340, and length tells you little: the single 13-hour day at 2,340 EUR sits alone far above a cloud of 7 and 8-hour private days at 450 to 730. The 1,050 EUR listing, which calls at Veuve Clicquot, Ruinart and Moët for about an hour each, is priced like a day of cellar tours and says it does not include them.
If a listing names three houses and cellar tours are not included, you are buying a driver and three boutiques.
Official prices at the door, 30 September 2026

| Pommery, Reims | Self-guided Brut Royal: 30. Guided Grand Cru Vintage: 38. Eleven formats up to 150. | Open seven days; book May to October; 116 steps or a lift, 30 m deep |
| Taittinger, Reims | Instant Rosé 70 min: 40 (ages 7 to 17: 25). Blending Workshop: 60. Instant Gourmet: 80. Instant Comtes: 90. Comtes en Verticale: 150. | First visit 9:45, last 16:15; book (sources disagree on walk-ins) |
| Ruinart, Reims | 2 h, two cuvées: 90 (ages 7 to 17: 50, under 7 free). Chardonnay Signature: 110. | 12 people at most; English and French; closed 1 May and 11 November; four to six weeks ahead |
Several listings quote these formats almost word for word. The Ruinart tours sell the 'Visite des Crayères': two hours, 12 people at most, two cuvées, which is the 90 EUR format. Veuve Clicquot's 'Une Seule Qualité', 1 h 30, is the 80 EUR one. Moët's 'L'Impérial', 1 h 30 with Impérial and Rosé Impérial, matches the 48 EUR Imperial Moment. So when a listing says simply 'tasting', assume the entry format, and ask for the name of the format before you book. Start with the Champagne overview if you have not chosen a house yet.
The arithmetic: what a driver adds
Take the Ruinart half day from Paris at 485 EUR. The visit is 90 EUR per person at the door, and the rest is 140 km each way: a driver, a car, a 7:30 pick-up and a 16:30 return. There is a catch in the unit. The listing allows up to seven travellers per booking, and seven tickets at 90 EUR would already cost 630 EUR, more than the whole price. So either 485 EUR is per person, or the price changes with the group, or the listing shows the lowest fare. The listing does not say; the checkout does. Do that sum before you compare two private tours.
For shared tours the arithmetic is kinder. The France Intense Veuve Clicquot day (330 EUR, eight hours, 128 reviews) includes the cellar visit with four tastings, lunch and a family grower; the À La Française equivalent, also 330 EUR with 213 reviews, adds Hautvillers and nine tastings in all. Neither picks you up in Paris. Both meet at Reims station or the Épernay tourist office, so you need your own train, and one operator lists the 8:28 from Paris-Est arriving at 9:14.
Named house, or another one on the day
Nine of the twenty listings say in their small print that the house in the title can be swapped, depending on availability. The wording runs from 'depending on availability' to 'we may replace it with another great Champagne house'. That is a real difference between a Veuve Clicquot tour and a Champagne house tour that hopes to get Veuve Clicquot. If a particular name is the reason you are going, buy that house's own ticket and book the driver separately, or choose a listing without a swap clause: the À La Française Mumm day, either Veuve Clicquot shared day, the Pommery small group, or the self-guided three-house day.
Entry cuvée or vintage: what the price tiers mean
The same house sells very different visits. At Veuve Clicquot the gap runs from 36 EUR for an hour with Yellow Label to 260 EUR for four hours with La Grande Dame. The 'Art of Aging' visit, at 160 EUR, is a comparative tasting of vintage cuvées, and one private listing includes it as its premium option: a 2015 vintage and its rosé, a 2002 in magnum and a 1990 from the house's private cellar. At Moët, the same logic takes you from 48 EUR for the Imperial to 85 for Grand Vintage and 190 and above for the longer formats.
The 2,340 EUR listing is the extreme. It starts with a private visit at the Moët address described as Dom Pérignon, with two cuvées, a brunch at the château of Boursault where the widow Clicquot once lived, and a tasting at a third house chosen in advance, and ends with a dinner. Its brunch is described as a Christmas brunch, which suggests a seasonal product.
Who has the evidence: 793 reviews, two listings
This is the thinnest page in the Champagne group. Twenty listings share 793 reviews, against 3,134 for the Paris day trips and 2,923 for Reims and Épernay. Two À La Française listings, the Mumm day at 250 EUR and the Veuve Clicquot day at 330, hold 433 of them, 55%, and ten of the twenty have ten reviews or fewer. The weighted 4.88 is mostly those two tours. Most private listings show a 5.0, and a 5.0 on three reviews is an introduction, not a verdict.
Check the calendar
Closing days differ by house and by operator. Ruinart is shut on 1 May and 11 November. Veuve Clicquot's visitor hours vary until January 2027. One operator states that Moët is closed in January and February and offers alternatives, which Moët's own visit page does not mention; confirm a winter date in writing. Several operators explain that the houses take a limited number of visitors, so on a busy date ask which house you will get. For a day that does not depend on a particular door, the growers and half days from Reims and Épernay cost a fraction, and the Paris day trips show the train against the tour.
Questions about Champagne house tours
Do I need to book Moët or Veuve Clicquot?
Yes. Moët recommends booking and limits places; Veuve Clicquot asks visitors to book weeks ahead from May to October. Ruinart caps its tours at 12 people and suggests four to six weeks. Tours that include a house have usually reserved the slot, but the small print may still allow a substitute.
Which house is best for a first visit?
Whichever you can reach. In Reims, Veuve Clicquot (from 36 EUR, one hour) and Pommery (from 30 EUR, self-guided, 30 m underground) are the quick options; Ruinart (90 EUR, two hours, 12 people at most) is the small-group one. In Épernay, Moët's Imperial Moment at 48 EUR is the standard visit on the Avenue de Champagne.
Is a house tour worth it, or should I buy the tickets myself?
If you only want the cellars, buy the tickets and take the train; you will pay 30 to 90 EUR a visit. A tour is worth it when it adds a grower, lunch and a driver for 250 to 330 EUR, as the shared days do. Private tours at 450 EUR and up mostly buy convenience and a timetable.
Are cellar tours included in every house tour?
No. Seventeen of the twenty listings include a guided cellar visit at a named house. One, at 1,050 EUR, says cellar tours are not included and offers a boutique visit and tasting at each house. Read the 'not included' list as well as the title.
Is Dom Pérignon open to visitors?
The one listing that sells it, at 2,340 EUR, describes a private visit starting at the Moët & Chandon address in Épernay and ending with two cuvées, P2 2006 and Vintage 2015. The house's own visit options were not among the pages we read.
What is the difference between a house and a grower?
A house buys grapes and blends; a grower presses his own, which a label shows as NM or RM. Growers cost less to visit, 25 to 32 EUR for a short visit, and the half days that include them are covered on the Reims and Épernay page.
Data verified on. 20 catalogue listings opened and read on 30 September 2026. House prices from Moët, Veuve Clicquot and Ruinart visit pages; Pommery and Taittinger from a booking platform.
