Reims and Épernay Full-Day Small Group Champagne Tour with Pommery Cellars
A full day across the Champagne region, built around Reims and Épernay with the villages between them. The group stays small, and the day mixes city sights, cellars and vineyard views. It starts in Reims, home of Veuve Clicquot, Mümm and Taittinger, with a city tour and a stop at the Gothic cathedral of Notre-Dame, where many kings of France were crowned. Next comes Champagne Pommery, the 6th largest House, for a cellar tour in 2000-year-old Roman mines and a tasting of two glasses. The route then heads into the vineyards of the Marne River Valley. At Hautvillers, the tomb of Dom Pérignon is on the list. Lunch is at Épernay, with restaurant suggestions from the guide, and time to walk the Avenue de Champagne. The last visit is to a boutique Champagne producer, where the making of Champagne is explained and 3 glasses are poured. The guide is certified, a sommelier student, and has 7 years of experience guiding in Champagne.

Vranken Pommery
Cellar tour and tasting at Pommery in Reims. The 6th largest Champagne House sits on Saint Nicaise Hill, a UNESCO site, where Roman chalk pit mines now age the bottles. The House grew large through Jeanne Pommery, the founder's widow. Following the example of Veuve Clicquot, she proved a woman could run an industry, and built the domain seen today. The 2000-year-old cellars hold bottles alongside old and modern works of art.
Cathedrale Notre-Dame de Reims
Visit to Notre-Dame of Reims with a certified French National Monument guide. This 13th-century Catholic church is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture, with thousands of sculptures and stained-glass windows. In 496, Clovis, the first king of France, was baptised on this site by Saint-Remi, bishop of Reims. More than 30 kings of France were later crowned in the same place.
Avenue de Champagne
A drive along the Avenue de Champagne in Épernay, where famous Champagne Houses stand one after another: Moët & Chandon, Perrier-Jouët, Pol Roger, Mercier, De Castellane and more.
Reims
Sightseeing drive through Reims, the largest city in Champagne, past its main squares, Roman ruins, medieval monuments and Champagne Houses. Stops on the route include the widest Roman arch in the world, the Louis XV square, the covered market and the Surrender Museum, where the Nazis signed. Houses passed include Roederer, Krug, Mümm, Veuve Clicquot, Taittinger and Pommery. Reims was heavily bombed in WW1 and rebuilt in the 1920s, which made it the Art Déco capital of France.
Hautvillers
Hautvillers, the cradle of Champagne wines. The village sits high above the Marne Valley, with views over the river, Épernay and the vineyards. After a stop at the viewpoint, the group visits the church where Dom Pérignon, steward of the local monastery, lived and died. After his tomb and his legacy, a drive through the village looks for the medieval-style signs on the houses of this UNESCO site.
Cumieres
Cellar tour and tasting at a small Champagne producer. Thousands of small producers work in the villages, and some make good wines at a fair price. The visit covers a selected one: its process, machines and cellar, then a tasting of part of the range.

Lunch break in Épernay, with restaurant suggestions from the guide.
