Private Day Trip from Cape Town to Stellenbosch and Franschhoek Vineyards (3/3)

This private day trip starts at your accommodation in Cape Town, at a pickup time that suits you. The drive east to Stellenbosch takes about 50 minutes, with vineyards and mountains along the road. Stellenbosch is the largest wine-producing area in South Africa. In town, the story is about age: Stellenbosch was the second settlement founded by European colonizers after Cape Town, and its winemaking goes back that far. The day covers what wine means to the community and which grape varieties grow in the area, before a visit to one of the region's leading wineries. There is a tasting of selected wines, with Pinotage, a local specialty, in focus. The tasting is paid on the spot, at 6 EUR per person. The route then continues to Franschhoek, one of the oldest towns in the country and another wine name. On the way, the road passes several wildlife reserves, where cheetahs, crocodiles and local bird species can be seen if you choose to stop, with a separate entrance fee at each. The day ends with the return to Cape Town.
