An evening in Tuscany rarely gets this close to the people who make the wine. The winery sits a few minutes from Siena, on the line between Chianti and the Crete Senesi, and the family that runs it leads the visit itself. The evening combines three parts: a walk through the family's vineyards and cellars, a tasting of their wines, and a traditional Tuscan dinner served at sunset. Dinner is on a panoramic terrace with views over the hills of Chianti and the Crete Senesi, two distinct landscapes of the Siena area seen from one table. This is neither a quick tasting nor a restaurant booking. The hosts tell the story of the estate as the group moves from vineyard to church to cellar to terrace, and the evening ends at a relaxed pace over wine and local food.

  1. Str. di Colle Pinzuto, 30, Siena

The tour takes place at this address. Arrive 10 minutes before the start so the wine tour can begin at 6:30 PM sharp.

  2. Winery San Giorgio a Lapi

Vineyards and olive groves The visit starts on foot among the vines and olive trees, in a spot between Chianti Classico and Chianti Colli Senesi. The hosts explain how the family winery began, what sets this ground apart, and the daily work of growing grapes and olives.

  3. Winery San Giorgio a Lapi

Church of San Giorgio a Lapi The church stands among the vineyards and olive groves. It dates to the 11th century and keeps frescoes from the Nasini school, a reminder of how old the land around Chianti and the Crete Senesi is.

  4. Winery San Giorgio a Lapi

Winemaking and aging cellars Inside the cellars, the guide walks through each stage of production, from harvest to aging. The family explains its methods and the thinking behind them, and how grapes end up as wine.

  5. Winery San Giorgio a Lapi

Panoramic terrace The evening ends on the terrace, with views over the Chianti hills and the Crete Senesi. The winery's wines are poured with a traditional Tuscan dinner made from local ingredients, eaten as the sun goes down and at an unhurried pace.
