Setúbal Day Trip from Lisbon: Bacalhôa Winery, Livramento Market and São Filipe Castle
The day starts at Palácio da Bacalhôa, a wine estate south of the Tagus. The road crosses the river with a view of the 25 de Abril Bridge. At Quinta da Bacalhôa you walk the vineyards, taste wine and hear about the grape varieties and winemaking methods of this region. Next comes Setúbal, a city known for its fishing industry. The first stop is the Mercado do Livramento, where local delicacies are tasted with a glass of wine. The afternoon covers Setúbal's historic center, including the Jesus Convent, a National Monument. The last visit is São Filipe Castle, with its Capela Joanina and views over Setúbal Bay, which is counted among the most beautiful bays in the world.
