Private Stellenbosch Afternoon: Dorp Street Walk and Lanzerac Wine and Chocolate Pairing
Stellenbosch is South Africa's second-oldest town, known as the Village of Oaks for its oak-lined streets. This private afternoon tour from Cape Town walks its Cape Dutch architecture and explains how Simon van der Stel founded the town along the Eerste River. The historic Braak is framed by well-preserved heritage buildings. The main tasting is at Lanzerac Wine Estate, established in 1692 and known as the birthplace of the world's first bottled Pinotage. There, award-winning wines are paired with handcrafted artisanal chocolates. The drive into the Jonkershoek Valley brings mountains, vineyards and fynbos into view. The afternoon ends at a second wine estate, chosen to suit your own tastes and interests.

Dorp Street is one of the longest rows of surviving old buildings of any major town in Southern Africa, and the second oldest road in the country. It linked the Cape to Stellenbosch and was the main trade route for farmers selling wine, wheat and other produce.
Stellenbosch
The walk covers the oldest part of Dorp Street, the wagon way, a National monument. It was the original road between Cape Town and Stellenbosch, used to carry goods and post. Old buildings and gables here range in style from Cape Dutch to Victorian.

Oom Samie Se Winkel

Lanzerac Wine Estate
Lanzerac was established in 1692, making it the third oldest farm in the area, and it is home to the world's first bottled Pinotage. The tasting here is a wine and chocolate pairing, followed by a short visit to the wine cellar.
