Private Siena and Chianti Day Trip from Florence by Mercedes Minivan, 8 Hours
A private group leaves Florence for a full day of eight hours in a Mercedes minivan with air conditioning. A licensed English-speaking driver handles the road and shares local history, food and culture along the way. The day starts in Siena, where the Gothic streets of the UNESCO-listed historic centre show off black-and-white architecture. It continues into Chianti for wine and Tuscan food at family-owned cellars that also make olive oil and aged balsamic vinegar. Included: pick-up and drop-off at the hotel or chosen location in central Florence, and a tasting of cold cuts and cheeses from the Falorni butcher shop. Siena
One of the most visited places in Tuscany, known across Italy for its medieval architecture. Time here goes to the seashell-shaped Piazza del Campo, the cathedral and the shops along the historic streets, good for local food or a gift.
Duomo di Siena
The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta is the main Catholic place of worship for Tuscany and the Siena diocese. It stands in the square of the same name in the city centre and is among the most significant churches in Italian Gothic style.
Piazza del Campo
Il Campo is Siena's main square, unusual for its seashell shape and known for its architectural unity. It is also where the Palio di Siena is run twice a year.
Strada in Chianti
The SS222, known as the Chiantigiana, runs the length of the Chianti region between Florence and Siena and counts among Italy's most scenic roads. The drive goes north from Siena to Castellina in Chianti, past castles and villages. At Fonterutoli Castle the group stops to see the small medieval village among vineyards, old woods and green hills.
Casa Emma wine tasting
Optional lunch at a farm or winery. At an organic farm the owner shows the property and his cellar, home to Super Tuscans and Chianti Classico, and the nearby acetaia with its old vinegar, while his wife prepares lunch for the group. Served with a Tuscan panorama, the organic dishes include lasagna with traditional sauces, crostini, local meats and cold cuts, legumes, seasonal vegetables, honey and cheeses with aged balsamic vinegar. Each of the four main courses and the desserts comes with a different glass of wine, and lunch ends with ice cream and balsamic vinegar or other desserts. This option includes a visit to Castellina in Chianti.

Panzano in Chianti
A medieval 11th-century tower stands a few steps from the entrance to Panzano, inside fortified walls that feel like the Middle Ages. From here, the view opens over the southern valley, where hundreds of plots are planted with Sangiovese.
Greve in Chianti
Greve in Chianti lies in the Chianti Classico wine region and was home to the explorer Giovanni da Verrazzano. The stop includes the old Falorni butcher shop, where guests taste Tuscan snacks made with local cold cuts and cheeses.
