Private Penedès Tour of Three Family-Owned Organic Wineries with Three-Course Lunch
This private tour crosses the Catalan countryside and the vineyards of Penedès, a region widely seen as home to some of Spain's most modern and innovative growers. The day visits three of the country's important family-owned wineries. At each cellar a wine expert explains the winery's own methods and shows how to tell its varieties apart, and each stop includes a tasting of wines and cavas (Catalan champagne). The group breaks at lunchtime for a three-course meal at a local restaurant. Because the tour is private, the pace and the conversation are set by the group itself.

Sant Cugat Sesgarrigues
The day starts with pickup at your hotel or apartment in Barcelona and a comfortable drive to Penedès, under an hour away. The region has made wine since Roman times, is among the oldest wine-growing areas in Europe, and today more than a hundred wineries sell over 380 million bottles. The first winery has signature wines and 40 acres of organic farming with a Mediterranean feel. The site was a Roman mutatio (rest stop) on the Via Augusta, and since the early 1300s it has belonged to the same family.
Sant Sadurni d'Anoia
The second winery was the first in Penedès to make organic wine for the Danish market. One family has run it since the early 1900s, with 100 percent of its fields under organic production and 15 grape varieties.
Vilafranca del Penedes
A break at a local restaurant for a three-course meal built on the area's own cooking.
Sant Marti Sarroca
The last winery is known for the quality of its wines. It farms organically, looks across to Montserrat and has some of the oldest vines in the area. The tour ends here, and the return transfer goes back to the hotel or apartment in Barcelona where it began.
