Private Hunter Valley Wine Day with a WSET Host, Wollombi and Pie Pairing from Sydney
A WSET certified wine host runs this private day in the Hunter Valley, leaving from Sydney. The itinerary is independently curated and has no winery affiliations, so the day is built around your group rather than a sales arrangement. The region has more than 160 wineries. Stops are chosen to match your taste, and the tourist traps are left out. The day includes private return transport from your Sydney hotel, premium wine tastings, a savoury Australian food and wine pairing, coffee, snacks and time in the historic Wollombi Valley. How it works: 1. Reserve your date. Book your preferred day to secure the private tour. 2. Share your tastes. The host gets in touch to ask about your favourite wines, your interests and the kind of day you want. 3. The itinerary is written for you. A personalised plan follows from those answers. 4. On the day, you are collected from your Sydney hotel and the host handles the rest.

Tourist Drive 33
The route north follows Tourist Drive 33, winding roads and open sky before the first glass. The group is small and the plan flexible, so the drive feels closer to a road trip with new friends than a scheduled tour.
Wollombi
Wollombi is a historic village. The stop covers its small shops and heritage buildings, with time for a quick coffee.
Hunter Valley
The first tasting is at one of the Hunter's oldest family wineries, established in 1858. The wines are classic, dry and savoury, made from some of the oldest producing vines in the country. The signature Semillon has fresh citrus notes that develop with age. The focus is tradition and balance.
Mount View
The second winery turns to bigger reds. Shiraz or Chardonnay from different Australian regions are compared side by side, which shows how climate and terroir shape flavour.
Pokolbin
A boutique, family-run winery from a newer generation of winemakers comes next. The tasting is paired with a savoury Aussie pie, which counts as lunch.
Broke
The day ends with a guided wine and chocolate pairing, from lighter wines with delicate chocolate to richer reds with deeper notes.
Sydney
The return to Sydney is by Highway 7, the faster route, with music on and a chance to nap.
