Two reserved wineries anchor this private day in Chianti Classico. The car and driver are covered by the tour price, while lunch and tastings at the wineries are paid on the spot. Poggio Amorelli is the full experience: a three-course lunch, a cellar tour with a wine expert, and a tasting of several wines with extra virgin olive oil and several vintages of balsamic vinegar, all paid at the winery. Castello di Gabbiano is a tasting and cellar tour in the basement of the castle, one of the most striking places in Chianti Classico, also paid at the winery. The route also passes the Antinori winery. If it is open to the public that day (it usually is), there is a free 45-minute stop to see the building, not the cellar, and a wine bar on the first floor where anything you taste is paid for on the spot. If it is closed, the day takes a panoramic detour around the Badia a Passignano monastery, through Montefioralle, with a short stop in Greve in Chianti.

  1. Antinori nel Chianti Classico

If the winery is open to the public that day, the car stops for 45 minutes so you can see the building and taste at the wine bar, paying directly for what you drink. The winery is sometimes closed to visitors. That is only clear on arrival, and since it lies on the route, no time is lost either way.

  2. Strada Statale 222 Chiantigiana

A day with a few stops for panoramic photos of the Chianti countryside, led by an English-speaking professional driver in a comfortable Mercedes E-Class. Lunch and tasting happen at a genuine Chianti winery in the middle of Chianti Classico, with typical local food. Pickup and drop-off are at your hotel or anywhere else in Florence.

  3. Poggio Amorelli

Poggio Amorelli is a highly rated Chianti Classico winery. Lunch has three courses, and the tasting covers five or six wines (Chianti Classico, Riserva, Super Tuscans, sparkling, white and others), balsamic vinegars of 12 and 20 years and, when available, 34 years, several extra virgin olive oils including a truffle one, and grappa. A winery expert leads the cellar tour before or after lunch. This experience is not covered by the Viator price and is paid at the winery on location.

    Costo extra

  4. Panzano in Chianti

Views over the countryside, with a stop for photos.

  5. Castello di Gabbiano

Castello di Gabbiano stands on a hilltop above rolling hills, vineyards and olive trees. The cellar sits in the basement of the medieval castle, and the Chianti Classico wines are among the best of the tour. An expert leads the tasting and cellar tour, which is paid at the winery on location.

    Costo extra

  6. Piazzale Michelangelo

A wide view of Florence from the hill closest to the city center, and a classic stop for seeing the city from above.
