Montserrat Day Trip from Barcelona: Black Madonna, Castle Winery and Tapas or Lunch

BarcelonaThe bus leaves Barcelona for Montserrat, Catalonia's best-known mountain range, and the ride is air-conditioned. At the monastery, a guide walks the group through the history of the site. After that there is free time to explore alone. The afternoon moves to a boutique winery (tapas and lunch options only). Its cellar is in a 10th century castle that the same family has owned for 36 generations, and it looks back toward the mountain visited that morning. The winery is reviving ancient local grape varieties. The meal depends on the option chosen: a light tapas brunch or a multi-course traditional lunch. Afterwards the group learns how the wine is made and tastes three wines before the return to Barcelona. A VIP Winery Experience can be added. It opens the barrel cellar, normally closed to the public, for an expert-led tasting of three premium wines, some drawn straight from barrels and foudres.

Bus from Barcelona to Montserrat
Air-conditioned bus from Barcelona to Montserrat, with a guide covering the monastery's history on the way. Free time follows, then the drive to the castle winery, where a tapas brunch or multi-course lunch is served before the tasting and the return.
Abadia De Montserrat
Extended guided visit to the Basilica and Monastery, then free time. Options include the Black Madonna, the Museum, the Holy Cave, the funicular to the top or the farmers' market. The visit can end with l'Escolania de Montserrat, Europe's oldest boys' choir.

Oller del Mas estate winery
Oller del Mas, an estate winery in a 10th century castle with 1,500 acres of land and a public golf course. A multi-course meal with wine comes first, then a walk through the vineyards and a guided cellar visit on how the wine is made. The day ends with a tasting of three ecological wines and a return to the starting point. L'Escolania does not sing on Saturdays, school holidays and several other dates.
