Three small family wineries, one local guide, a full day. The route starts with hotel pickup in Barcelona and moves between cellars that were each chosen on purpose rather than by proximity. Along the way guests learn how cava is made, sit down to a lunch of fresh Spanish food and taste a run of wines and cavas at every stop.

  1. Barcelona

The guide messages the day before to arrange pickup, using a nearby spot if the hotel has difficult parking. Pickup is usually at 9 am, which can shift with other pickups. The ride to the first winery takes an hour.

  2. Artcava

The first stop is Artcava, a small winery in an old Catalan farmhouse. It covers how cava is made in Penedès and ends with 3 of its main wines and cavas.

  3. Giro del Gorner

Five minutes from the first winery, a cellar about five centuries old, owned by a brother and sister and in the same family since the 1800s. A pairing of 3 cavas and still wines with local food in a garden above the vineyards: Spanish omelette, Catalan bread with tomato, virgin olive oil, local cheese and cold meats.

  4. Vins El Cep

Vins el Cep, a winery surrounded by nature and quiet enough for an unhurried tasting of a Pet-nat and a Cava Gran Reserva.

  5. Barcelona

Drop-off in Barcelona at around 4 pm. The program may change depending on the wineries' availability.
