Val d'Orcia by Coach from Florence: Montalcino, Pienza, Montepulciano and Pecorino
A full-day coach tour from Florence into the Val d'Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with two tastings of wine and pecorino cheese. Three hilltop towns are on the route: Montalcino, Pienza and Montepulciano. Montalcino comes first. It is the home of Brunello, and the stop includes a visit to a traditional winery. Free time in the town leaves room for the views over vineyards, olive groves and hills. Pienza follows, the Renaissance "ideal city" whose architecture is laid out with unusual harmony and whose edge looks over the valley. Its streets are lined with shops selling local specialties, pecorino among them. The last town is Montepulciano, known for Vino Nobile and its historic centre. The second tasting takes place in a historic underground cellar. Then the coach heads back to Florence, with the tour leader on board from start to finish.
