Douro Valley Day Trip from Porto with Family Estate Lunch, Tastings and Pinhão Cruise

The road from Porto heads east into the Douro, and the day is built around three stops. The first is Amarante, a historic town where the coffee break leaves time for pastries and a look at the church and convent of São Gonçalo. Sabrosa comes next, with a guided visit to a family-owned wine estate. Three of its wines are poured while the guide explains how they are made. Lunch is included and is served overlooking the vineyards, with a choice of red or white Douro wine alongside. The tastings also cover port wine, cheese and olive oil. After the meal the drive continues toward Pinhão, pausing at the São Cristovão Viewpoint for photos of the Douro valleys. In Pinhão a cruise on the Douro River closes the day, with vineyards, wine estates and the valley slopes passing on both banks.
