Taste the Barossa is an award-winning small-group day tour from a company with more than 25 years of experience touring the Barossa Valley. Groups are capped at 20 guests, and the tastings are private or structured rather than standard cellar door pours. The day has four wine stops. At Kies Family Wines the tasting happens in the private barrel room. Chateau Tanunda adds a wine tasting and a self-guided visit. After lunch comes a Yalumba fortified wine and chocolate tasting. The last tasting, at Rosenvale Vineyards, is exclusive to this tour and is held among the vines. Lunch is a regional platter of local produce, with a glass of wine included. A local guide drives the day and tells the stories of the region.

Itinerary

  1. Adelaide Hills

The route leaves Adelaide through the Adelaide Hills and into the Barossa Valley. With a maximum of 20 guests, there is time at each stop instead of a rush between cellar doors.

  2. Kies Family Wines

First stop is Kies Family Wines in Lyndoch, a sixth-generation Barossa family winery. The structured tasting is held in the private barrel room, with wines made from estate-grown fruit.

  3. Chateau Tanunda

Next is Chateau Tanunda, a historic Barossa landmark established in 1890. Its bluestone winery has been part of Barossa winemaking for more than 135 years. A self-guided walk through the estate is followed by a structured tasting.

  4. Lunch at Melba's, Angaston

Lunch is at Melba's in Angaston: a regional platter of local produce, with a glass of Yalumba wine or a soft drink. There is time to eat without hurrying.

  5. Yalumba

Before leaving Melba's, a private Yalumba port and chocolate tasting pairs Yalumba fortified wine with chocolate made locally by Melba's.

  6. Rosenvale Vineyards

From Angaston the route continues to Rosenvale Vineyards, a three-generation family winery that makes wine from its own vineyards. A selection is tasted while the family's story is told.

  7. Seppeltsfield Road

The Barossa leg ends along Seppeltsfield Road. The guide talks about the road, its historic estates and the people who shaped this part of the valley, with palm-lined views from the window.

  8. Barossa Valley

The tour is built for a more personal wine day: private and structured tastings, a local guide, regional food and produce, and a small group, all in one planned day.
