Barossa and Hahndorf Sightseeing Wine Tour via Mt Lofty, Melba's and Seppeltsfield
A small-group sightseeing day across two of Adelaide's great regions, Hahndorf and the Barossa, travelling through the Adelaide Hills. Small group here means 24 passengers or fewer. The day begins at Mt Lofty Lookout (weather permitting) and a short coffee stop at Beerenberg Farm. Free time in Hahndorf, Adelaide's oldest German settlement, leaves room for its shops and galleries of local arts, crafts and produce. The road then runs through Adelaide Hills townships to the Barossa, with stops at places of interest on the way. Lunch is at a Barossa winery, with a choice of dishes from the menu supplied. The afternoon covers Maggie Beer's Farm and Seppeltsfield Winery, where the grounds, the JamFactory and Vasse Virgin are open to explore. The group is back at its hotel between 5pm and 5:30pm.
What's included

Melba's Chocolate & Confectionery
Melba's Chocolate Factory is a working tourist factory in a heritage-listed complex at Woodside, 40 minutes from Adelaide. The site produced cheese, butter and small goods from 1919 until 1976, and the current owners began making chocolate and confectionery there in 1991 with 1940s equipment. The old cheese factory is now a confectionery shop at the centre of five rooms: Chocolate, Depositing, Packing, Panning and Toffee.
Woodside Cheese Wrights
Woodside Cheese Wrights has made award-winning cow and goat milk cheeses in the Adelaide Hills since 1994, all handmade from milk sourced from small local dairies. Some are seasonal. Ready-to-go cheese bags in cooler bags are sold to keep, and orders placed before noon are ready from midday the next day.
Hahndorf
Hahndorf was settled by 19th-century Lutheran migrants and keeps its German-style architecture and artisanal food. Hahndorf Academy holds the German Migration Museum. Time for a stroll and free exploring.
Mount Lofty Summit
Mount Lofty Summit, the peak of the Mount Lofty Ranges, stands more than 710 metres above sea level and looks across the Adelaide skyline to the coast. Walks lead down to Waterfall Gully, onto the Heysen Trail, or through native bush to Cleland Wildlife Park. The visitor information outlet and gift shop sells maps and souvenirs.
