Jim, the host and guide, is South African and a winemaker himself: his Hunneyball Wines and Abbotts Hill wines are listed in Platters. He speaks English and Swedish, and he is a certified tourist guide for all 9 provinces, covering history, culture and nature. Ask him anything. This is the most popular wine-tasting tour from the operator. It stops at some of the youngest and oldest wine estates in the area, and at a few in between. Guests swirl, sniff and taste a representative cross-section of regional wines, and where possible walk among the vines and through the cellars. Culture, history and cuisine come up too, in as much or as little detail as you want. Jim graduated from the Cape Wine Academy and belongs to the South African Sommeliers Association. He likes talking about wine, from growing to glass, and he does it at whatever level suits the people in the car, expert or not.
