This tour treats wine as a way into Provence: the land, the food and everyday life in the valley. The host lives in the Sainte Victoire Valley and starts with a walk there, away from the usual tourist paths. Next comes the Côtes de Provence Sainte Victoire appellation, a region with only 31 producers, and what sets it apart from other Provence wines. The host has chosen an organic estate for the tasting. There the visit covers how the wine is made, how to taste it, and the estate's best gastronomic cuvées. The day ends outdoors with a game of pétanque and a picnic prepared by the host. The spread has local saucisson, olives, goat cheese, figs, lavender honey, herbs and three different olive oils. A rosé from another winery, made with entirely different grape varieties, is opened alongside it. The pace is relaxed, and the focus stays on the Provençal way of eating and drinking.

  1. Aix-en-Provence

  2. Montagne Sainte Victoire

The route circles Sainte-Victoire Mountain, the symbol of Provence and a recurring subject for the painter Paul Cézanne. Several scenic stops take in the vineyards, olive groves and limestone cliffs around the valley.

  3. Trets

A family-run organic winery in the Côtes de Provence Sainte-Victoire appellation, known for gastronomic wines. A guided tasting explains the winemaking and how terroir, climate and grape varieties shape each wine.

  4. Puyloubier

A tasting at a local cooperative, then free time in a hilltop village at the foot of the mountain. While guests walk the streets or the nearby vineyards, the host prepares the picnic. An apéritif with Provençal wine and a game of pétanque come before the meal.
