The Prosecco hills of Valdobbiadene and Conegliano lie in the upper Treviso area, a little over an hour by road from Venice. This day trip from Padua follows the natural amphitheatre between the two towns, a landscape on the UNESCO World Heritage list since 2019. Two stops come before the wine: the Molinetto della Croda, and the Cistercian Abbey of Santa Maria di Follina, both among the most atmospheric corners of the province. Lunch is at a family-run winery, where a tasting of Prosecco comes with typical local products and an explanation of how the wine is made. The day closes at a second cellar with a glass of Cartizze, one of the most prized types of Prosecco.

  1. Vecchio Mulino della Croda

A water mill from the 16th century, built in several stages. Its foundations sit on bare rock, the 'croda' (literally 'cliff') that gives the place its name.

  2. Abbazia Cistercense Santa Maria di Follina

Follina is a small town at the foot of the Treviso-Belluno Prealps. It is a focal point of the religious tourism circuit, with places of devotion and considerable artistic value.

  3. Prosecco Hills - World Heritage Site

A guided visit to a Prosecco winery shows the steps of production. A tasting of several glasses of Prosecco Superiore DOCG follows.

  4. Valdobbiadene

Vine-covered hills, castles and parish churches mark the northern part of the Treviso area. The Prosecco Road runs along the strip at the foot of the Pre-Alps, where the easy-drinking sparkling wine has held its place for over 100 years.
