Casablanca Valley Wine Route
The day starts with private pickup from your hotel in Santiago. The drive to the coast crosses central Chile's countryside, an area of vineyards and gentle hills cooled by ocean breeze, which suits winemaking.
Bodegas RE
First stop is Bodega RE, a boutique vineyard mixing tradition and innovation. A guided tasting introduces its blends and small-batch methods in a small, intimate setting among the vines of the Casablanca Valley.
La Sebastiana
La Sebastiana is one of Pablo Neruda's three homes. The colorful house on the hill looks out over Valparaiso, and its rooms show the poet's eccentric personality and love of the sea.
Valparaiso Puerto Magia
Valparaiso is Chile's main port and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The historic harbor town is busy and chaotic, and its hills, murals and narrow streets show everyday Chilean life.
Ascensor El Peral
The El Peral funicular, built in 1902 with British technology, is one of the city's oldest forms of transport. The ride gives a local's view of Valparaiso and of the bay.
Plaza Sotomayor
Plaza Sotomayor is Valparaiso's main square and the center of its naval history. It is lined with 19th-century buildings, including the Chilean Navy headquarters, and is a good spot for photos.
Flower Clock (Reloj de Flores)
Next is Viña del Mar, Chile's best-known coastal resort. The first stop is the Flower Clock, a city landmark created for the 1962 World Cup, set among well-kept gardens.
Quinta Vergara
Quinta Vergara is a quiet park that once belonged to the Vergara family. It now hosts the Viña del Mar International Song Festival, and has gardens, a museum and an open-air amphitheater.
Moai Del Ahu
Before the drive back, a stop at an original Moai statue from Rapa Nui (Easter Island), a symbol of Chile's cultural diversity. Then a private drive returns to your Santiago hotel.
