Monumento a Los Heroes
The War of the Pacific in the 1880s was a turning point in Chilean history. The armed forces, led by the Navy, defeated Bolivia and Peru, took mineral-rich land in the north (saltpeter and copper) and left Bolivia landlocked. This large monument honors the victory and its leaders. It also anchors Sotomayor Square and is visible from many surrounding hills.

El Arco Britanico
A monument on Avenida Brasil, donated to the city in 1910 by the British community for the centenary of Chilean Independence. Covered in Italian marble, it is topped by a Victorian lion and carries the images of four Britons who took part in the War of Independence.
Plaza de los Poetas
A square commemorating the city's literary history, with notable architecture and gardens. It is a stop on the way to Pablo Neruda's house, and visitors can pose with the statues.

A promenade with European-style buildings, views, stores, restaurants, photo stops and crafts on sale.

Corporacion Museo de Arqueologia e Historia Francisco Fonck
Founded in 1937, the museum shows objects of Chile's original peoples, with a large Rapanui collection, plus Atacameños, Diaguitas, Mapuches and peoples of the central and far southern areas, and Peruvian pre-Columbian vessels. Natural Sciences has a sample of arthropods and animals from across the country.

A statue brought from Easter Island, popular for photos and a prompt to think about its original makers.
Mirador Pablo Neruda
A small house on top of Cerro Bellavista, one of Valparaíso's best-known destinations. Its museum shows glimpses of Neruda's life, and the house gives a vantage point over the city. Shops outside sell magnets, and a nearby plaza has steps with mosaics.
Muelle Prat
Views from the boat, plus port life with local merchants and a large plaza.
Cerro Alegre
The historic part of Valparaíso, on the hills. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site for the architecture of its houses, with sea views, restaurants and shops.
Muelle Vergara
A spot for photos of the coastline on both sides, and a popular fishing spot with locals.
Flower Clock (Reloj de Flores)
An iconic spot, picturesque even on a cloudy day.

Probably the Valparaíso ascensor with the best views from the top, and the stroll back down is pleasant.
