Northern PortugalA private, exclusive day led by Rita Teixeira, built on the legacy and heritage of the Douro Valley. The route goes through stories, hidden places and viewpoints that the usual itineraries skip. The day has three parts: a private wine tasting at a traditional estate in the Upper Douro, a river cruise on a classic wooden boat, and a home-cooked lunch in a family vineyard house.

Pinhao
Pick-up, then 1 hour 30 minutes of driving along the N222 and past hidden viewpoints. In the Upper Douro, a private premium wine tasting at a traditional estate, with experts on hand, among terraced vineyards where only the wind breaks the silence. Guide: Rita Teixeira.

Sao Martinho de Antas e Paradela de Guiaes
Lunch at São Martinho da Anta, in a family-owned vineyard home. The small parish covers 15.95 km2 and had 870 inhabitants in 2001. It is best known as the birthplace of the writer Miguel Torga, who lived in an isolated house here. The lunch is homemade and rustic, in a traditional Douro family home, with regional white and red wine. The tasting includes a 10-year-old Tawny Port and a Vintage Port. A vegetarian option is available on request.
