The visit to Podere Gagliassi begins outdoors, with a walk through the organic vineyards. There the hosts explain the terroir, how each vine is looked after and the bond the family has with the land. The route then goes down into the underground cellar, where the wine rests slowly and gains complexity and elegance. The tasting closes the visit and is a vertical one: several vintages of Barolo poured side by side. Comparing them shows how the wine changes over time and what sets each bottle apart.
