Organic Wine Tour of Kakheti: Qvevri Maker, Mosmieri Lunch and Ruispiri Biodynamic Winery
Natural wine is the point of this Kakheti day, and every stop is chosen around it. The first is a family of qvevri makers in a small village, one of the last in Georgia, where the wine is tasted straight from the clay amphoras. Lunch follows on the terrace of the Mosmieri wine chateau, above the vineyards of the Alazani Valley, with wines and local specialities on the table. The farmers market of Telavi comes next, for local produce, and then an artisan biodynamic winery in Ruispiri, whose organic wines are tasted from the cellar. The monastery of Alaverdi, in a valley surrounded by the Great Caucasus, is also on the route, along with scenery and historical sites on the drive.
