Kakheti Day Tour from Tbilisi: Family Wine Cellar, Bodbe, Sighnaghi and Shoti Bread
A day in Kakheti, where nearly three-quarters of Georgia's wine grapes are grown. Finds there suggest wine has been made here for several thousand years, and villages are known for their own wines, such as Kindzmarauli, Akhasheni, Teliani and Mukuzani. Wines take the name of the place where they are made. The day includes Bodbe's Monastery of St. Nino and Sighnaghi, the City of Love. On the road there is a taste of Shoti, Georgian bread baked in a deep, round clay oven called a tone. During the harvest season the group also visits one of the biggest wine factories in Kakheti, where wine can be tasted and bought.
