Kakheti Wine Tour from Tbilisi: Sighnaghi, Bodbe, Shoti Bread and 7 Tastings
A full-day trip from Tbilisi to Kakheti with seven stops that mix wine, food and sightseeing. Sighnaghi, the City of Love, is a hilltop town with cobblestone streets, colorful balconies and old fortress walls, and it looks over the Alazani Valley and the Caucasus Mountains. Bodbe Monastery is the resting place of St. Nino, surrounded by gardens. At the KTW winery the subject is Qvevri winemaking (a UNESCO-listed method). Tastings include Saperavi, plus chacha and brandy. Two hands-on sessions fill out the day: baking Shoti bread in a clay oven, and making Churchkhela, the Georgian grape-and-nut sweet.
