Calado El Guallavero Wine Tasting with Family Wines and Snack, Laguardia
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
Basque CountryA calado is an underground tunnel that uses its natural conditions to preserve wine. The type dates to medieval times, when the inhabitants of fortified towns in border lands sought protection from frequent attacks. Laguardia is considered to have more than 300 of these caves, joined by tunnels, and for a long time they worked as wineries where wine was made. This one is private and exclusive to the family, a space with many years of history. Inside, guests taste a selection of wines made by the family, served with a snack. For travelers who want a complete wine tourism stop on their trip, this is the underground option in Laguardia.
