Brunello di Montalcino Wine Tour from Siena Railway Station: Two Winery Tastings
A wine tour that starts at Siena railway station and goes to Montalcino, the hill town where Brunello is made. The wine comes only from Sangiovese grapes, and it grew out of generations of local winemaking that has made it one of Italy's best-known reds. The day has two tastings at two local wineries, then free time in the walled hill village itself, around its fortress, before the return to Siena. Good to know: the tastings run in English, and the tour leader translates when needed. Expect a moderate amount of stairs and walking. Opening times can change during special events, and the itinerary may be reshuffled, but every stop is still visited.
