Bodegas Manzanos Haro Tour: Vertical Winery, 15th-Century Crypt and Five Wines

Bodegas Manzanos Haro is one of the oldest wineries in Haro and, according to the operator, the only working 19th-century winery with a vertical design. The group meets at the entrance of the Palacio de Tejada, near the winery. The visit begins with a talk on the Denominación de Origen Rioja and what sets Manzanos Haro's wines apart. The winery itself is on the historic Calle Las Cuevas. Inside, a wine museum and several rooms follow the wine from harvest to bottling. Five underground levels come next. They include the cellar, with an aging room of 19th-century oak barrels, and a bottle crypt from the 15th century. The tasting covers five wines with cheeses: Gonzalo de Berceo Tempranillo Blanco, Siglo Crianza Selección, Manzanos Reserva, Voché Graciano Vino de Autor and Gonzalo Berceo Gran Reserva. The tour lasts about 2 hours.
