The guide is a winemaker and winery owner who was born and raised in one of Piedmont's best-known wine areas. The day starts in Turin and heads into the Langhe and the wine districts around it, at a relaxed pace and always in contact with the people who make the wine. Along the route the guide talks about growing grapes and making wine from direct experience: how soil, the direction vineyards face, grape varieties and recent climate change shape what ends up in the bottle. Time is spent in vineyards and cellars, and several wines and vintages are tasted. Each outing is flexible and personal, built around Piedmont's wine culture, its scenery and traditions, and the hospitality of the people who live there.
