This small-group day trip leaves from Montecatini Terme and links two medieval towns, San Gimignano and Siena, with a wine estate between them. The drive crosses the Tuscan countryside, and the small group leaves room for flexibility. San Gimignano is the first stop, with its tall medieval towers and its shops selling colorful ceramics. In Siena a local guide, paid separately on the day (25 euro per adult, children free), explains the Palio horse race and the Piazza del Campo. Between the two towns comes a visit to a well-known wine estate, with a guided Chianti tasting led by the winemaker.

  1. Montecatini Terme

The meeting point is in Montecatini Terme, in front of the Tourist Information office at Viale Verdi 66, directly opposite the Verdi Theater.

  2. Palazzo Pubblico e Torre Grossa

San Gimignano is the first town, with medieval towers to look at and ceramic shops to browse. The gelato stop is at the spot where "Tea with Mussolini" was filmed. In free time, the small history museum holds a reproduction of a 14th-century tower. Between the two towns the group visits a wine cellar, where the winemaker presents his wines. The guided tasting covers the Chianti white Vernaccia and a Chianti DOCG, with bruschetta and pecorino cheese.

  3. Piazza del Campo

After the tasting the group continues to Siena, a medieval town built among hills. The Siena guide, paid separately on the day, leads the way through narrow medieval streets to the Piazza del Campo, one of Europe's most remarkable medieval squares, shaped like a shell in the manner of ancient theaters. Siena also has one of the most monumental cathedrals in Italy, which can be visited during free time.
