Semi-Private Supertuscan Tour from Florence: Castello di Gabbiano and Greve
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
FlorenceThis semi-private tour from Florence is built around the Supertuscans, the top Tuscan wines. It reaches three wineries near the city: two well-known ones and a boutique estate. An oenophile guide leads the tastings and explains the production methods. The hills around Florence give the wines their character through climate and soil. The day sorts out what Chianti and "Chianti Classico" mean and how each pairs with food. Supertuscans can be made from various grapes, pure or blended, so they carry the winemaker's own touch. They are rare and prized, and often come from the latest vintage. At the three wineries the guide shows the vineyards and the methods, modern and traditional, and explains acidity, aromas and flavors in the glass. Lunch is a typical Tuscan meal paired with local wines, in a well-known Tuscan village with its own history and atmosphere.
