  2. Stazione Roma Termini

Departure from Rome is at about 7:30 AM, on a 1.5-hour high-speed train to Florence.

  3. Florence

In Florence, go straight to Porta Romana, the meeting point. It is 5 minutes from the train station by local bus or taxi, or an easy 25-minute walk. The guide meets the group there, and private transport leaves for Tuscany at 9:45 AM on a trip of about 7 hours.

  4. Ulignano

The first stop is a local winery in the Chianti region, with panoramic views of the vineyards. The tasting covers several wines, including Chianti, and extra virgin olive oil. A passionate wine producer shows how to recognize the different flavors.

  5. Abbazia Monteoliveto Minore

The second stop is another family-run winery, in an area known for DOCG Vernaccia white wine, with views of the towers of San Gimignano. The wine makers lead the way through vineyards and cellars and explain how wine and oil are produced. More wines are poured, Vernaccia DOCG among them. Local products are on sale to take home or ship. The group then heads into San Gimignano.

  6. San Gimignano

The afternoon is free in San Gimignano, a medieval town of narrow streets. There are local shops to browse and a skyline of towers, and ice cream from Dondoli, a world-champion gelateria, is nearby. The guide suggests the best places to visit in town.

  7. Florence

The group is back at Porta Romana in Florence around 5:00 PM. The team hands out a customized city map with suggestions for Pitti Palace, the Ponte Vecchio and the Duomo, to be explored freely. Leather stores are close by, and local specialties such as Florentine steak or focaccia with prosciutto are worth a try. The train leaves at 7:43 PM.
