San GimignanoThe estate pours four to five organic wines, including Vernaccia di San Gimignano and Chianti Colli Senesi. Its extra virgin olive oils and aged balsamic vinegars follow, all estate-produced. Locally sourced Pecorino Toscano and homemade bruschetta go with the tasting. A member of the family explains the sustainable, organic and biodynamic methods behind it. The setting is a rustic winery overlooking vineyards, olive groves and the medieval towers of San Gimignano. It is only minutes from the historic center, so it fits easily into a day in the area.

By car: coming from the A1, exit at Firenze Impruneta and take the Firenze-Siena road. Exit at Poggibonsi Nord and follow the signs for San Gimignano (about 8.6 miles / 14 km). In San Gimignano, follow the main road toward Certaldo for about six-tenths of a mile (1 km). Pass the crossroad to Fugnano and the traffic circle back, then turn right onto a small white road and continue for 50 m. Turn right at the first gate, marked with the Podere le Colonne parking sign. By bus: frequent buses run from Poggibonsi to San Gimignano. The nearest stop is in front of the property, on Via Martiri di Citerna. By train: the nearest stations are Poggibonsi and Certaldo. From there, continue by bus or taxi.
