Private Southern Burgundy Wine Day in a Vintage Land Rover from Lyon
This private day in Southern Burgundy is driven in a vintage Land Rover, with a local Insider at the wheel and the backroads to themselves. The day begins in Lyon. Depending on the option chosen, train tickets are provided or a private transfer takes you south. Anyone already in Burgundy can meet the Insider in Mâcon instead. From there the route follows quiet country roads to hidden vineyards and places mostly known to locals. The day includes at least four wine tastings. Some are at small producers or cooperatives, and one may happen among the vines themselves. Philippe's home is one of the highlights. He is a former winemaker turned druid, and his private wine cellar is worth the stop. The rest of the route depends on your interests. The Insider may take you to a hilltop chapel, to medieval ruins, or to a goat cheese farm set in a former Cluniac priory on a Celtic site, where the cheese is sold only on the premises.

La Part-Dieu, Lyon
Trains to Burgundy leave from Lyon Part-Dieu, and tickets, timetable and directions are provided. The Insider waits at the exit of Mâcon ville station, a small station with a single exit. Look for the vintage Land Rover.
Macon
At least four wine stops fill the day: independent wineries, cooperatives, or a tasting set among the vines. Each stop pours a minimum of four wines.
Saone-et-Loire
Between tastings, the Insider points the Land Rover toward lesser-known places: a hilltop chapel, medieval ruins, or a goat cheese farm in a former Cluniac priory on a Celtic site.
