Private Full-Day Cape Winelands Tour: Fairview, La Petite Ferme Lunch, La Motte and Tokara
This private day visits award-winning wine farms in Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl. Along the way guests taste South African wines and cheeses and hear from wine experts. Some farms occupy historic buildings with old cellars, and the estates spread over wide rolling acres. A local guide shares what he knows of the area through the day.

Fairview Wine and Cheese
The Cape Winelands are about 45 minutes north. The first tasting of the day is at Fairview, with wine paired with cow and goat's milk cheeses, or at a winery of your choice.

Groot Drakenstein Prison
Nelson Mandela spent his last fourteen months at Groot Drakenstein Prison and walked out of its gates a free man in 1990. A statue of Mandela stands at the gates, and the group stops for photos.
The Huguenot Memorial Monument
On the way to Franschhoek Village, a photo stop at the Huguenot Memorial, which marks 250 years since the French Huguenots arrived in the Franschhoek valley.
Lunch at La Petite Ferme
Lunch at La Petite Ferme, an award-winning restaurant, is at your own expense. Its kitchen team experiments with flavors, ingredients and textures to build a menu from seasonal local produce. Franschhoek is called the gourmet capital of South Africa.
Franschhoek Village walk
After lunch comes a short walk through Franschhoek Village, a Western Cape town with centuries-old vineyards and Cape Dutch architecture. The Huguenot Memorial Museum and the monument next to it honor the French settlers of the 17th and 18th centuries.
La Motte Wine Estate
The Franschhoek valley is lined with mountain slopes and vineyards. La Motte Wine Estate is next, with a range of its award-winning wines to taste, or a winery of your choice.

Tokara Wine Estate
The last tasting is in Stellenbosch, at a modern hilltop winery with vineyard views. Wine ambassadors are on hand to answer questions, or the tasting can be at a winery of your choice. The drive back to the hotel takes 45 minutes.
