This private full-day tour from Porto is built around a licensed driver-guide and a flexible plan. The route crosses vineyard-covered hills, stops in the historic wine village of Provesende, looks out from Casal de Loivos, reaches the riverside of Pinhão and follows the N222 toward Régua. There is no fixed package. Port or Douro wine tastings, a river boat ride and lunch at a local restaurant or winery are all chosen separately, with clear pricing and no hidden markups. The pace is relaxed and personal, with time for the landscapes and the stories behind the region's wine.

  1. Provesende

Provesende is one of the Douro Valley's most distinctive wine villages. A gentle walk passes manor houses, the parish church, the historic pillory and traditional streets. When possible, the route goes by a traditional bakery that still bakes bread in a wood-fired oven.

  2. Casal de Loivos

Casal de Loivos is one of the valley's best-known viewpoints. It looks over terraced vineyards, the Douro River and the surrounding hills, and makes a prime photo stop.

  3. Pinhao

Pinhão and Pinhão Railway Station Pinhão is an emblematic village of the Douro wine region, with a riverside atmosphere. The railway station is known for its azulejo panels showing wine production, harvest and Douro life. The stop is short.

  4. Optional Douro river boat ride

Optional Douro River Boat Ride If schedules allow, a boat ride can fit between the wine experience and lunch. The river gives a calmer view of the vineyard terraces and the valley.

    Costo extra

  5. Quinta do Seixo - Sandeman

Optional Wine Experience A wine experience can be added, selected separately during booking and subject to availability. The suggested order is a port tasting earlier in the day and a Douro table wine tasting later.

    Costo extra

  6. Bagaúste Dam and Régua Riverfront

Bagaúste Dam and Régua Riverfront A final scenic stop near Bagaúste Dam and the Régua riverfront, where the Douro appears as a river shaped by wine, history and engineering.

  7. N222 scenic drive

After lunch and any optional wine experiences, the drive continues along the N222, one of Portugal's most scenic roads, with vineyards, river views and photo stops when route and timing allow.

  8. Ponte Pedonal Metalica de Peso da Regua

King D. Luís I had this metal bridge built in 1872 as a road crossing of the Douro River. It has been out of use since 1949 because the wooden deck deteriorated. The original project was by engineer W. Liebe, later changed by engineer Johann Gaspar Harkort. Construction was overseen by German engineer Wilherm Dulhener of the Eiffel team.

    Costo extra

  9. Peso Da Regua

Peso da Régua is regarded as the capital of the Douro wine region and is an important hub for the wine industry. The Douro Museum is here, with exhibits on the region's history and culture, including the production and marketing of port.
