A private tour in English with a certified WSET level 3 wine expert (on the way to level 4), who stays with the group all day. He explains the wine, the region, the production process, its history and economy, and tells stories about Champagne. The Mercedes van collects you at your accommodation in Paris, and the guide handles the logistics. The day shows two sides of Champagne: a famous house and an independent family winemaker. Both make high-end wine classified Grand Cru, Premier Cru or Cru. The independent grower is a sixth-generation winemaker near Châtillon-sur-Marne, with three cuvées to taste. In Épernay come lunch at a bistronomic restaurant (not included) and the Gallo-Roman cellars of Moët & Chandon, where two cuvées are poured. The day ends at Hautvillers, the cradle of Champagne.

  1. Paris

Pickup at 8:00 am at your accommodation, then the drive to Champagne in a luxury Mercedes van. On the way, the guide presents the agenda and asks about your expectations to adjust the day.

  2. Chatillon-sur-Marne

The first visit is to an independent family winemaker of the sixth generation. The group sees the nearby vineyards, the production site and the cellar, and learns how Champagne is made. Three cuvées are tasted, with an explanation of what sets them apart.

  3. Chatillon-sur-Marne

A walk in the vineyard for some of the best panoramas of Champagne. The guide presents the terroir and the vine's growing cycle and answers questions.

  4. Epernay

Twenty minutes by van across typical Champagne scenery to Épernay, still with the same guide.

  5. Avenue de Champagne

Lunch at a bistronomic restaurant serving fine French cuisine. A table is booked, but lunch is not included in the price.

  6. Avenue de Champagne

A walk along the Avenue de Champagne, where some of the most prestigious houses stand. The guide shares the history of the avenue and its houses.

  7. Avenue de Champagne

The Gallo-Roman cellars of Moët & Chandon, dug between the 4th and 15th centuries, where vintages, some centuries old, are refined. A Moët & Chandon guide leads the visit, and two cuvées are tasted.

  8. Hautvillers

Hautvillers, typical of the Champagne vineyards and known as the cradle of Champagne. Dom Pérignon perfected the Champagne method here.

  9. Abbaye Saint-Pierre d'Hautvillers

Along the winding lanes, look for the original signs producers have hung on their house fronts. The church belongs to the former Benedictine Abbaye St-Pierre, founded in AD 650 by St Nivard, bishop of Reims, and is decorated with 17th-century woodwork. Dom Pérignon is buried here.
