Private Champagne Day from Paris: Moët & Chandon Cellars, Pommery or Veuve Clicquot, Reims (6/6)

A private day trip from a Paris hotel to the two Champagne cities, Épernay and Reims, about 140 km and two hours each way. The drive east crosses vineyards before the first stop at Hautvillers, where the monk Dom Pérignon made his mark on winemaking and on the invention of Champagne. His grave and a panoramic view are part of the stop. In Épernay the group tours the underground cellars of Moët & Chandon, the largest Champagne producer, and tastes two glasses: Moët Impérial and Rosé Impérial. After lunch at a local restaurant, it is a 30-minute drive to Reims for the heritage cellars of either Pommery or Veuve Clicquot, and then the cathedral, which hosted thirty-three coronations. Visitor numbers at the houses are limited. If a house is full on your date, alternatives are offered immediately.
