Private Cape Winelands Day: Paarl, Franschhoek and Stellenbosch with a Lunch Stop
This private day covers the three main wine regions near Cape Town: Paarl, Franschhoek and Stellenbosch. The car is spacious and air-conditioned, and the tastings along the way can include wine, cheese and chocolate. Tastings are paid separately. The first region is Paarl, known for its cheese and wine tastings and its views. Next comes Franschhoek, a historic French enclave often called the granddaddy of South African viticulture, with mountain views on the road. The route then reaches Stellenbosch, settled by students, where the pours include home-cloned Pinotage and award-winning farms. Lunch is an a la carte meal at a vineyard, with vegetarian options, and is paid separately. A small family-run winery is also on the route, where locals pour their wines, and a local guide tells the story of the region.

Cape Town Central
The day starts in central Cape Town, an area of cultural landmarks, shops, restaurants and historical sites.
Paarl
Paarl is a Western Cape town and one of the oldest European settlements in South Africa, with vineyards and a place in the wine industry. Paarl Rock, a massive granite outcrop, draws hikers and gives wide views.
Fairview Wine and Cheese
Fairview pairs its goat cheeses with its wines, matching texture, flavor and acidity. Each wine and cheese duo is chosen to bring out new flavors.
Nederburg Wines
Nederburg sits on the outskirts of Paarl, about 50 minutes by road from central Cape Town. Its story began in 1791, when German immigrant Philippus Wolvaart bought 49 hectares in the Paarl Valley and named the land after VOC commissioner Sebastiaan Cornelis Nederburgh. The thatched, gabled Cape Dutch manor house he finished in 1800 is a national monument. Ilse Graue lived in it until the late 1950s and hosted the estate's visitors.
Franschhoek
Franschhoek is known as the French Corner of South Africa. The village in the Western Cape is known for its history, scenery, wine and food.
Haute Cabriere
Haute Cabriere in the Franschhoek wine region combines wine tasting, gourmet dining and mountain scenery.
La Motte Wine Estate
La Motte makes Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, among others, and a tasting usually covers a selection of them. Depending on the tasting chosen, food pairings such as cheeses, chocolates or small bites may come with the wines.
Stellenbosch
Stellenbosch is a Western Cape town with historical charm, wine estates, cultural activities and scenery.
Delaire Graff Estate
Delaire Graff is a Stellenbosch estate whose tasting is led by sommeliers and covers award-winning, limited-release wines. The focus is its Bordeaux-style blends: Cabernet Sauvignons, Merlots and red blends. Gourmet bites from the estate's restaurant go with the wines, and the private art collection is open to visitors. The tasting also explains the terroir of Stellenbosch, from coastal breezes to mountain slopes.
Spier Wine Farm
Spier is one of the oldest wine farms in South Africa, with a recorded history going back to 1692. It holds one of the largest collections of contemporary South African art. Its wines are among the most awarded in the country. The Stellenbosch farm serves them with food made from ingredients grown on the farm or by trusted nearby farmers. Spier also has a hotel and meeting facilities.
