This private nine-hour tour is about wine and culture in the Douro Valley, in the north of Portugal. A guide leads the day through Amarante, the Galafura viewpoint and Pinhão. In Pinhão there is a one-hour panoramic cruise on the river. Lunch is included at a local restaurant, so the food is part of the route. The day closes with a guided visit to a wine estate and a wine tasting.

Living Tours Porto
The guide collects guests from their hotel, accommodation or the meeting point and drives to Amarante. On the road to the Douro, the guide talks about Portuguese history, development and heritage.
Amarante
Amarante sits below the Serra do Marão, on the Tâmega, the Douro's longest tributary. Legend says a Roman centurion named Amarantus founded the town, and the Benedictine monk St. Gonçalo built its bridge in the 13th century. Local sweets to try: papos de anjo, brisas do Tâmega, toucinho do céu, bolos de São Gonçalo and galhofas.
Miradouro de Sao Leonardo de Galafura
São Leonardo da Galafura Viewpoint stands at about 640 meters, between Vila Real and Peso da Régua. The Douro River runs below, framed by the steep slopes where the wine grapes are grown.
The Douro Valley
Lunch at a local restaurant: a traditional Portuguese meal with drinks included and local Douro table wine. A vegetarian option is available if requested during booking.
N222 road
The N222 follows the south bank of the Douro River into the Douro Wine Region and is classified as the most beautiful road in the world.
Rabelo boat cruise
A cruise on a rabelo boat, with terraces of Port vines on both banks and only vineyards and wine farms in sight.
Pinhao
A vineyard estate in the Douro Valley, visited on a guided walk with stops at points of interest. The visit includes a tasting of different wines before the return to Porto.
