Discovery Wine Tours has run shore excursions for cruise ship guests in Picton, Port Marlborough, since 2005. It is a locally owned family business, and its small-group tours are built around the ship's schedule. These are not large coach trips. The group visits boutique wineries and well-known cellar doors, tastes premium wines, and hears from local hosts about the stories behind Marlborough's wines. Timings follow Port Marlborough's shipping schedule updates, so the tour gets back to the ship on time. Free shuttle buses run between the cruise terminal and the Picton Information Centre meeting point, where the guide waits beside the Yellow Flag.

  1. The Foreshore, Picton

A free cruise ship shuttle bus drops guests at the Picton Information Centre meeting point. On leaving the ship, follow the blue line to the Yellow Flag, where the tour hosts wait. Tours are updated daily to match each ship's port schedule.

  2. Marlborough Region

The tour starts at the Picton i-SITE Yellow Flag meeting point, where the host welcomes guests ashore and introduces the Marlborough wine region. The excursion is planned around the ship's port schedule and runs roughly 4 to 6 hours, depending on arrival and departure times, with a return in time for the ship. The group visits 3 to 5 selected cellar doors for relaxed tastings of Marlborough wines. One stop is a vineyard restaurant, where lunch can be bought at your own cost. Premium Private Tours are also available from Discovery Wine Tours for a more personal day.
