The bus from Rome to Florence takes about 4 hours. This day trip takes the high-speed train instead, and the ride lasts 90 minutes. A host meets the group at Termini Station and helps with boarding. In Florence, a local expert leads a walk through the city's history and the Medici family, passing the Duomo, Brunelleschi's Dome and the "Gates of Paradise." In Piazza della Signoria, a replica of Michelangelo's David stands in the open. A luxury van then drives into the Tuscan hills to a family-run winery overlooking San Gimignano. The tasting is small, with wines paired with local meats and cheeses, and a light lunch follows. The last part of the day is free time in medieval San Gimignano, known for its historic towers and artisan shops. The van returns to Florence for the high-speed train back to Rome.
